Smoked South Island Malt Whisky Release - 1 April, 2023
We're proud to announce the release of our inaugural malt whisky - the Smoked South Island Malt Whisky. This limited edition release is a gritty and bold whisky that delivers a strong and smoky flavour profile. Aged for two years in a small, used American oak barrel, this is a true South Island Whisky that has been crafted using only Canterbury malted grains. The barrel was previously used to age our first release of Dusky Corn Whisky.
The Smoked South Island Malt Whisky is a one-time release that has been distilled with the intention of releasing it young, ensuring a flavourful and memorable experience. This whisky is unfiltered and unapologetically smoky, making it the perfect choice for those who enjoy bold and complex flavours.
Our Batch SM1 is made from 90% peat smoked barley, 5% manuka smoked barley, and 5% unsmoked barley, giving it a unique flavour profile that is sure to delight your taste buds. The nose of this whisky is sweet and smoky, with earthy char and white pepper notes. The palate is dominated by the bold flavour of NZ Peat, followed by sweet Manuka smoke that is not overpowering. The finish is long and warming, with hints of honey and vanilla that linger on the tongue.
As a one-time release, we are eager to hear your feedback and opinions on Batch SM1. We invite you to savour every sip of this exceptional whisky and experience the unique smoky character that sets it apart from other single malt whiskies on the market.
At Herrick Creek, we take great pride in producing New Zealand Malt Whisky, which is made entirely from cereal malted barley that is mashed, fermented, distilled, and aged in New Zealand for at least two years. The Smoked South Island Malt Whisky is a testament to the high-quality standards that we hold ourselves to and the passion we have for crafting exceptional spirits.
For a limited time, we are offering free shipping on this release. Don't miss your chance to experience the unique flavour profile of the Smoked South Island Malt Whisky from Herrick Creek.
