At the dawn of the 20th century, New Zealand dreamed of wild moose herds roaming Fiordland.

The government reached out to Canada for help, and in 1910, ten moose calves landed at Supper Cove. For decades, sightings and stories grew—until, after 1952, the moose seemed to vanish, leaving only legend behind.

Our founder and distiller, Tom, grew up in Canada—where the moose is more than a myth. Inspired by this cross-continental tale, Herrick Creek crafts authentic spirits in honour of the moose hunters, the wild places, and the spirit of adventure that ties Canada to New Zealand.
